The Birth of Venus Rising

The seed for Venus Rising Media was planted in the dark — long before I knew how to make films, before I ever held a camera. It wasn’t born from ambition or a business plan. It grew from a quiet, persistent longing: a quest for belonging, for truth, for wholeness.

As a young girl, I was raised by twenty caretakers — some from distant lands, speaking other languages, preparing unfamiliar foods, carrying their own customs. Each offered love in their own way, leaving gentle imprints on my heart.

Through them, I learned that every person holds a voice, a vision, a story — a thread in the fabric of life, waiting to awaken those who will listen.

What I didn’t have words for then, but understand now, is that those early experiences shaped the very core of who I am. I became a weaver of worlds — someone attuned to the threads that connect people across differences, someone who listens for the unspoken and honors what is sacred. That instinct became the heartbeat of my life’s work.

Years later, Venus Rising Media emerged.

But its roots trace back to those early moments — the curious child, the witness, the wisdom keeper. The name came during a liminal period in my life, a time of shedding old skins and stepping into a deeper sense of purpose.

Venus, to me, symbolizes more than beauty or femininity; she is the creative force born of love, intuition, and fierce devotion.

Rising speaks to reclamation — of stories buried, whispered, passed down in kitchens, or hidden in plain sight.

Venus Rising Media was born from this convergence: a commitment to center untold stories, nurture emergent voices, and craft films that awaken empathy and reimagine what’s possible.

I founded this company to carve out a space for those stories. To amplify voices often left in the shadows, at the edges of culture. To reimagine documentary filmmaking as ritual, as community, as a vessel for healing.
